History of

EVERGREEN

Evergreen was built by Bill Schaefer and family and opened for play in 1962.  Before becoming a golf course the property was a family farm with some of the hazelnut and fruit trees still standing on the property today.  The clubhouse was completed a few years later and has been remodeled and updated in the past few years.

In the

MID 60S

Tom O’neil and Jim Hynds families purchased the course and operated until the early 1990’s with Tom handling the course maintenance and Jim running the proshop. Originally funded by patrons in the local communities of Silverton, Mt Angel, Woodburn and Gervais the course had a large private membership with locker rooms and a full restaurant for forty years.

THE REDING FAMILY

took over ownership in 2004 and has continually update and improved the course including a new irrigation system, cart paths and mile of drainage.  Over 50 years after construction Evergreen continues to be a local landmark with many of the original golfers still frequenting the course!
